Top Ten Tuesday︱ Books I’m Too Scared/Nervous to Read!

Published by

Hello all! How are you doing today? Welcome to another week of the Top Ten Tuesday meme created by That Artsy Reader Girl! This week’s prompt is a Halloween Freebie so I am going to do Books I’m Too Scared/Nervous to Read! So besides Thrillers, the closest books that are scary that I would read are Dark Romance books. I know, not scary at all. Funny enough, I can’t even watch scary movies at night. I have to watch them in the middle of the day with the blinds open and all the lights on. But when it comes to the books below, I have heard many things about them and they are all probably something I’d really enjoy, I’m just scared to take the plunge.

Have you read any of these? Are there any books that you are too scared to read?

I really liked There’s Someone Inside Your House and I wouldn’t say it’s too scary. Dark Places is one of my absolute favorite books.

I tried to read It once and had to stop because of how scary it was. Great list!

Thank you! Oh boy, yeah I was forced to watch the TV movie and it didn’t turn out well for me. I’ve been terrified ever since.

I think Stephen King basically wins Halloween with his horror novels and movies.

I’m always intensely excited when I see Gillian Flynn’s books on creepy lists. She pens some of my favourites. In particular, Sharp Objects. Ah! Just… so many great picks here!

There’s Someone Inside Your House was good but definitely did not shy away from gruesome deaths. It’s also definitely not the book to read if you’re about to be home alone (when you normally live with 1+ others) or staying in a strange house, which I found out the hard way while house-sitting 2 days later and triple-checking every lock all day / being Extremely Aware of exactly where I was leaving my things before exiting a room. I’m a fan of horror novels so I didn’t think it would affect me that much, but the aftershocks got me!

Fiction horror doesn’t tend to scare me too much, but what I really have a hard time reading is real life horror. True stories about serial killers or murders are what will keep me up at night. ;). I just finished The Shining on Halloween and honestly, I was a little disappointed that it didn’t scare me more. Ha!

I love True Crime! For some reason I’m the opposite True Crime stories don’t really bother me that much but fiction horror bothers me. I really don’t get it lol
