The Predator (Dark Verse #1) by RuNyx
Publication Date: January 1st 2020
What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object in the field of death?
In the dark underbelly of the mob, Tristan Caine has been an anomaly. As the only non-blooded member in the high circle of the Tenebrae Outfit, he is an enigma to all – his skills unparalleled, his morality questionable, and his motives unknown. He is lethal and he knows it.
As does Morana Vitalio, the genius extraordinaire daughter of the rival family. What Caine does with weapons, Morana does with computers. When a twenty-year old mystery resurfaces, Morana infiltrates Caine’s house, intent on killing him, unaware of a tie that binds them together. Hate, heat, and history clash together with unexpected sparks.
But something bigger, something worse is happening in their world. And despite their animosity, only they can fight it down.
“Next time, I’m going to see how loud you can scream, Ms. Vitalio. I’m going to make you so sore you won’t know if it’s from the screaming or the fucking.”
Honestly, am I really surprised that I loved this book? Because I DID!
If you know anything about me, you’ll know that I loathe reading in third person. I truly do. It usually takes me forever to get through a book when it’s in third person. I find it confusing, somewhat annoying and like I have less of a connection with the main characters. I don’t know what it was about this book, but after a while of reading it, it didn’t bother me. My only very small gripe about this book is that Tristan Caine is ALWAYS referred to as Tristan Caine. I found it a little annoying since sometimes Morana also called him Mr. Caine, but never just Tristan. Other than that, I loved this book. RuNyx is a fantastic writer, storyteller and really gets my brain going with visualizing everything in this book. I couldn’t put this book down. It kept me on my toes, the chemistry between Tristan and Morana just oozes off the pages, it was heart pounding and that cliffhanger killed me. Such a solid read and I can’t wait to read more!
About the Author:
I’m an ancient soul trapped in a 26-year-old body. The phoenix is my spirit animal, books are my lifesavers, and words are my lifeblood.
I was born with stories in my veins. As far back as my memories go, story-telling has been a part of my life.
I stumbled upon writing accidentally while going through severe depression. Writing became not just a means of expressing but also catharsis. Every single character and every single story became precious. It taught me to love, to live, and most importantly, it made me discover who I was.
